OK so the other day I am at Kohl's returning some stuff and I realize I am alone and I have a few precious moments to myself to shop ALONE, which is ultimate mom time for me. So I am strolling along founds some cute pants and a top then I stumble upon the picture frame and seasonal sections. I look up and straight ahead I see the Christmas section!!! Trees, ornaments Christmas cards, the whole nine yards, it is flipping September people!!! Of course this threw me into a high hover because I now have it in my mind that Christmas is just around the corner and I have nothing done. I am anal and I am a planner and so thanks to Kohl's I am now making freaking Christmas lists in September!
The kicker to this was that there was a Halloween display in the center aisle which only had about 2 shelves, I am a huge Halloween fan and to see only 2 shelves dedicated to one of my fav holiday's was quite the bummer too!
What's next are people going to set up Christmas tree stands in August! I hate that retail has done this to Christmas as I have always thought it is not about the gifts but instead the family and cheer!

I like to decorate for ALL holidays adn imagine how unhappy I was to go to Christmas Tree Shops and see Halloween and TONS of Christmas stuff, but NO Thanksgiving! So not only are we rushing RIGHt THROUGH TO Christmas we're skipping over Thanksgiving. Geez!!
Target stuff had Christmas stuff out, too, today. Right next to the Halloween stuff. I like to wait until Thanksgiving!!
I'm with you on the family vs. presents
I know how you feel. I was so depressed to see Costco having Halloween up in early August. And Christmas has been in Costco for three or so weeks now. I'M NOT READY YET. Oddly, my husband and I just discussed not doing Christmas for ourselves this year because it's too stressful. Hmmm....
That totally sucks!! I saw on the Today Show today that the season is going to start early this year due to the fact that the economy "is so bad."
But September does seem just a little more than ridiculous!
Sorry I haven't been here to comment much recently. I have been lazy and just reading along in my reader. After a day of two screaming banchy children, I just don't have much left! :) Just know I am still reading!

LOL I totally get you on this, it seems the Christmas season comes earlier and earlier each year. Although, living in South Florida, that is my favorite time of year. It is annoying in September though, at least wait until the Halloween outfits are gone!
I KNOW! I was at Costco a week ago and they had Christmas stuff out in the back area, but hadn't yet put out Halloween stuff! And the bulk of the stores are still selling short sleeves and capris and whatnot, instead of sweaters and long-sleeves, but then have Christmas stuff out. GEEZ!
Oh, man, I hate seeing Christmas stuff out so early. I'm just not ready for that season yet...
I hate that they push it and shove it down your throat. UGH
It's like that here, too. There is a huge difference between people shopping early for Christmas gifts (I do it so I'm not totally broke) and stores marketing it like crazy WAY too early...makes me sad because that's NOT what Christmas is all about. I'm with you on this one.

Oh and I forgot...one of the COOLEST things we've done in our family is limit the price of the gift ... we're trying to keep the season about the reason. :-)
I am barely getting my mind around the end of Summer. Sheeeeeh!
Pretty soon they will just keep that stuff up all year round!
I saw Christmas crap in Target yesterday.. I could not believe it.. but I will say that they still had a ton of Halloween stuff out.. but it is OCTOBER!! ???
